I'm Gabriella, but most people call me Gabry. I'm a yoga teacher and practitioner, and I guide people towards self-awareness through mindful movement, breathwork and psychological insight. My classes are a space to release tension, feel present and grounded, and reconnect with yourself and your spirituality, on and off the mat.
Making yoga accessible matters to me, so that everyone can experience what it has to offer.
My yoga journey began in 2015 in Australia, though it wasn't love at first sight. My first classes at a gym felt unfamiliar and uncomfortable, and I wasn't sure yoga was for me. A few months later, a stay in a Hare Krishna community introduced me to different styles, including Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of devotion and service, and to Yoga Philosophy. Something shifted, and my curiosity began to grow.
A couple of years later, in New Zealand, I told a friend how hard it was to find a practice that resonated, one that didn't make me feel like my body was broken. They encouraged me to try Iyengar Yoga. By chance, I ended up doing a Workaway exchange at the home of a senior Iyengar teacher. His approach, and his personality too, was tough, but something about it stuck, and soon I registered at an Iyengar school in Auckland. For the first time in my life, I felt truly committed to something: the practice.
After a few years on the other side of the world, I returned to Europe and kept practising at an Iyengar school in my hometown in southern Italy. A few months later I moved to Lisbon, where I found a beautiful space to practise and a compassionate, skilled teacher, Rita, who deepened my journey further.
I had long dreamed of India, ever since my time with the Hare Krishna community. Just before COVID I was finally planning to study there, but the pandemic put that dream on hold. Instead, it opened the door to learning online: I enrolled in a teacher training while continuing to practise with Rita in person, and earned my first teacher certification.
In 2024, the dream came true. I spent five months in India studying with teachers such as Vinay Kumar, Usha Devi, Ravi Bisht, Sharat Arora and many others. I came back with an advanced certificate and several specialisations, and with a deeper understanding of yoga as a way of life, not just a physical practice.
This path has become a lifelong one, and I'm deeply grateful to have stumbled upon it. It keeps shaping me every day, on and off the mat. I'm still studying with joy and curiosity, and it is a true privilege to live this practice and share it with others as they find their own way.
My classes are rooted in traditional Hatha yoga, with a strong Iyengar influence. I also draw on Yin and Vinyasa, so the practice can be slow and deep or more flowing, depending on the class and on the people in the room.
Breath is at the heart of how I teach. Pranayama is often translated as breath control, but its meaning is closer to the expansion of prana, the life force, through the breath. We begin with the basics: noticing how you breathe, letting the breath become smoother and fuller, and feeling its movement in the body. From there, simple breathing practices help to calm the mind, bring energy and steady your attention.
Pranayama is part of my classes whatever your level, and we only go as far as feels right for you.
My approach is inclusive and accessible, shaped by years of Hatha and Iyengar yoga practice and my background in psychology.
I teach with attention to alignment, so you can build a strong foundation and feel steady in each pose.
That precision is always held with empathy and a trauma-informed approach: I stay aware of how each person is feeling, and of any special needs they may have.
Every practice is adapted to your abilities. Whatever your experience, you are supported to explore, grow and enjoy the full benefits of yoga.
Yoga is a way of coming home: to the body, to the breath, to a quiet presence that is already within you.
The physical practice is only one step of an ancient path. Through movement, pranayama and meditation, we learn to observe the mind and to rest in awareness itself, and the separation between “me” and the world begins to soften. Whatever your beliefs, I invite you to discover for yourself that the awareness within you is not separate from the universal consciousness that pervades all life.

Gabry’s way of teaching is warm, human and easy to follow. She has so much knowledge! I’ve learned so much, especially to take care of little details in each asana that have improved my practice a lot. Beautiful experience.

I really enjoyed Gabry’s classes at NOVA. She explains the positions and by her guidance and little adjustments in positions I could see my improvement. I felt really comfortable in her classes.
